FlexGen Technology
Will allow for increased renewable energy generation connecting to the electricity grid.
FlexGen technology will allow for increased renewable energy generation connecting to the electricity grid. These systems provide response capabilities to support the network and counteract any fluctuations in wind and solar power.
FlexGen developments have fast start-capability and can therefore provide response capabilities in a timely fashion to support sudden fluctuations in electricity demand. These fluctuations can be expected as we, as a society, transition to increased amounts of renewable generation on the network.
Our FlexGen projects in the Dublin area are anticipated to operate during periods when electricity generation from renewables is low and during peak demand periods.
The developments will help to maintain the long-term stability of the electricity system in Ireland and support the increased reliance of the grid on electricity generated from renewable sources on ESB’s journey to deliver Net Zero by 2040.
